Maldivian suspends domestic flight operations

The national airline, Maldivian, has suspended all domestic flight operations following the lockdown imposed on Male’ City.

Maldivian announced all domestic flights have been suspended following the lockdown imposed on the capital due to the spread of COVID-19. The airline stated domestic flight operations will be put on hold until further instructions from Health Protection Agency (HPA).

In addition to Maldivian, Manta Air has also decided to suspend all of its domestic flight operations. The suspension of domestic flights from the two main domestic carriers brings a halt to all domestic flight operations in the Maldives.

Male’ City has been placed under an initial 24-hour lockdown after a resident of the capital tested positive for COVID-19. HPA has banned all movements on the streets of Male’, Hulhumale’ and Villimale’.
