Health Protection Agency (HPA) has extended the lockdown imposed in the Greater Male' Region for an additional 24 hours.
During the lockdown, HPA has banned unauthorised individuals from going out in Male', Villimale' and Hulhumale', using public transportation including buses and ferries and travelling in and out of Male', Villimale', Hulhumale', Thilafushi and Gulhifalhu. However, HPA revealed the restrictive measures are eased on the Maldives Police Service (MPS), Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF), healthcare professionals, and pass holders of the National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC).
HPA has revealed 3 individuals living in Male' City, including a mother and a child, have tested positive for COVID-19. These are first COVID-19 cases found in the capital city, with the remaining 20 positive cases reported from resorts, safaris, and individuals who were undergoing the mandatory 14-day quarantine period following their arrival from abroad.
