Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen has revealed 207 individuals have been identified as contacts of the three individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 in Male' City.
Speaking to PSM News, Health Minister Ameen said the initial 24-hour lockdown was imposed in order to effectively carry out the contact tracing of the first individual who tested positive for COVID-19 in Male' City. In this regard, 75 contacts, who are identified as high risk, have now been isolated, with information collected on individuals who met with the direct contacts. In addition, 22 households are under monitoring in Male' City and another 4 islands.
Furthermore, Minister Ameen stated discussions are ongoing to arrange means to provide basic necessities to the public during the lockdown. As such, the minister said arrangements are being made to deliver essential items from shops to households.
National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) is collecting information on the individuals who require assistance on essential needs during the lockdown. The centre is also conducting the registration of people who are required to go outdoors in order to provide essential services.
