Maldives and India hold discussions regarding COVID-19

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have held a discussion on the impacts of COVID-19 for both countries. The discussions were held over a phone call between the president and the prime minister.

In a tweet following the call, President Solih revealed discussions were held regarding the national efforts to combat COVID 19. He noted the call also focused on possible cooperation from India to aid the Maldives in curbing the spread of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, in a tweet, Prime Minister Modi said discussions were held regarding the health and economic challenges COVID-19 poses for the Maldives.

During the deteriorating situation, India has assisted the Maldives by providing medicine sufficient for three months in addition to essential food items.
