Islamic Ministry begins distributing dates donated by Saudi Arabia

Ministry of Islamic Affairs has started distributing dates donated to the Maldives from the government of Saudi Arabia on a first-come-first-served basis.

The ministry stated each household in the Maldives will receive one packet of dates while each household in the registered list of poor people will also get one packet. The ministry said it will consider poor households in distributing the dates and people who go to the ministry to collect dates have been instructed to present the national identity card when collecting dates.

Male' City Council will be distributing dates to households in Male' and Vilimale, whilst Housing Development Corporation will distribute dates in Hulhumale'. Meanwhile, local councils have been instructed to send a representative to the ministry between 0930hrs and 1700hrs.

Saudi Arabia donated 50 tonnes of dates to the Maldives this year.
