Addu City Council bans gatherings of more than 3 people

Addu City Council has banned gatherings of more than 3 people in public places.

In a statement issued to announce the new measures imposed in Addu City to contain the spread of COVID-19, the city council stated any gathering of more than 3 people in a public place has been prohibited. The council has also banned driving around the city for non-essential purposes.

The city council said individuals breaching the order can be fined under the Decentralisation Act. As such, the council noted individuals violating the orders of the council can be fined by an amount between USD 32.30 and USD 3230.

Addu City Council has imposed several measures to prevent an outbreak of COVID-19 in the city. In this regard, travelling between the wards of the city have been banned, while all prayer congregations have also been suspended.
