Several military personnel test positive for COVID-19

National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) has revealed 14 additional military personnel from the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Speaking at the daily press conference at NEOC, Dr. Ibrahim Afzal from the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) stated 14 military personnel working at MNDF Electrical Mechanical Workshop tested positive for COVID-19 on April 29, taking the total positive cases of MNDF officers to 20.

Previously 4 officers tested positive in Kalhuthuhkalaa Koshi, while another 2 officers working in the development of the Medical Facility in Hulhumale' also tested positive for COVID-19. Noting it may also become a significant cluster, Dr. Afzal stated contact tracing of MNDF officers is underway.

In addition to military personnel, several employees working at shops that are providing delivery services amid the lockdown imposed in the Greater Male' Region have also tested positive for COVID-19.
