5,000 test kits and medical equipment arrives in the Maldives

National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) has said additional 5,000 COVID-19 test kits and other medical equipment have arrived in the Maldives.

Speaking at the daily press conference, Spokesperson of NEOC Mohamed Mabrook Azeez said 500 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) sets and 15 auto bypass ventilators arrived from China, in addition to the test kits. The 5,000 kits that arrived in the Maldives are in addition to the test kits offered from World Health Organisation (WHO).

Other countries are also supporting the fight against COVID-19 in the Maldives. In this regard, India, Bangladesh, and the US have donated medical equipment to the Maldives, in addition to China.

The Maldives has increased the daily testing capacity to 400, up from 50 to 100 daily tests conducted two months ago.
