The Maldives has recorded the second death from COVID-19.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) stated a Bangladeshi national transferred to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) from Senahiya Hospital after a tonic-clonic seizure succumbed to the illness. The patient was tested for COVID-19 as part of the protocol for all hospitalised patients. IGMH revealed the patient tested positive for COVID-19.
Speaking at the daily press conference held at the National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC), Dr. Mohamed Faisham from IGMH revealed the patient suffered a ruptured aneurysm and passed away during treatment, adding he was on ventilator. The doctor further stated he was suffering from other health issues. In this regard, he added it is now believed the patient passed away due to high blood pressure or suffering from higher pressure due to a tumor.
The burial of the patient was held according to the standard operation procedures (SOP) followed in the Maldives in such situations.
