National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) has stated more clusters are highly anticipated following the recent surge of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives.
Speaking at the daily press briefing held at the NEOC, Dr. Ibrahim Afzal from the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) stated additional clusters are highly likely with the recent surge of positive cases, although the current trend of community spread is normal and predictable. Providing updates on the treatment of patients, Dr. Afzal said currently a 70-year-old and 88-year-old are on ventilators. He noted despite a 58-year-old and an 80-year-old requiring oxygen, all individuals undergoing treatment in the DH11 facility at Dharumavantha Hospital are in stable conditions.
The doctor called the public to practices handwashing more as the world marks World Hand Hygiene Day. He also urged people to pay heed to personal cleanliness to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
