National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) reveals four COVID-19 patients are being treated on ventilators in the Maldives.
Speaking at daily press briefing held at the NEOC, Dr. Ibrahim Afzal from the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) said three patients are currently being treated in the DH11 facility at Dharumavantha Hospital, of which two local men, aged 70 and 88, have been placed on ventilators. The other individual in Dharumavantha Hospital is a Pakistani national who is in good health.
In addition, Dr. Afzal said 11 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised in Tree Top Hospital and two of them, aged 29 and 54, are currently placed on ventilators. COVID-19 patients are put on ventilators when their health deteriorates due to breathing difficulties.
The Maldives has reported 897 COVID-19 cases of which 31 have successfully recovered. The number of COVID-19 related deaths in the country is 3.
