Medical equipment for COVID Village arrives in the Maldives

Equipment needed for the development of the medical facility of Hulhumale' COVID Village has arrived in the Maldives.

The equipment for COVID Village was brought to the Maldives via the repatriation flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines. The airline arrived in the Maldives to repatriate Bangladeshi workers in the Maldives seeking to return home.

The items brought on the flight include medical equipment, medicine and other medical supplies. The items will be used for the development of the medical facility in COVID Village, which is being developed in front of Tree Top Hospital in Hulhumale'.

The facility will include 289 isolation beds to treat COVID-19 patients. It will also include an accommodation block for doctors, nurses and medical experts working in the facility, as well as a service block which will include a kitchen, laundry and waste management unit.

The facility is being developed by Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) with assistance from Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC), Fenaka Corporation Limited, State Electric Company Limited (STELCO), Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO), Housing Development Corporation (HDC), Alia Construction, Amin Construction and Rasheed Carpentry and Construction (RCC). The government has revealed the facility will cost over USD 2.5 million.
