MNDF hands over 300-bed medical facility to IGMH

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has handed over the 300-bed medical facility built in Hulhumale' to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

Minister of Defence Mariya Ahmed Didi handed over the facility to IGMH at a ceremony attended by Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed, and senior officials from MNDF and IGMH. The five-block facility located near Tree Top Hospital was established by renovating buildings around the hospital and the facility will be used to treat COVID-19 patients in critical condition.

The facility has been equipped with an accommodation block for health care professionals. Additionally, the service building holds a kitchen, a mess room, a waste management unit and laundry rooms.

The project overseen by MNDF was also assisted by Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure, Housing Development Corporation (HDC), Maldives National Association for Construction Industry (MNACI), Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC), State Electric Company Limited (STELCO), Fenaka Corporation Limited, State Trading Organisation (STO) and Amin Construction Private Limited. The facility was built at a cost of USD2.59 million.
