State of Public Health Emergency extended until June 29

The Maldives has extended the State of Public Health Emergency until June 29.

The statement issued by Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen said the Director-General of Public Health Maimoona Abubakuru has advised maintaining the State of Public Health Emergency to ensure necessary measures can be taken to safeguard all citizens of the Maldives amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Maldives initially declared State of Public Health Emergency for a period of 30 days on March 12. The public health emergency has been extended three times since then.

The Director-General of Public Health has advised all authorities to continue taking stringent measures deemed necessary to ensure the safety of the public.
