The Asia-Pacific Media Forum officially commenced with a grand opening ceremony in Shenzhen, China, bringing together a vast coalition of regional communicators and leaders.
Jointly organised by the CPC Central Committee of China, Xinhua News Agency, and the Guangdong Provincial Government, the summit has drawn over 400 delegates representing 220 media organisations from 42 countries across the Asia-Pacific region.
Prior to the main event, side events were conducted across three Chinese cities from 3 to 4 September. The opening ceremony featured keynote addresses from a diverse array of stakeholders, including representatives from regional media organisations, specialised universities, government institutions, United Nations agencies, and various international bodies.
The forum's agenda featured two substantive panel discussions. The first, themed "Learning from the Stories of Diverse Communities," focused on cultural exchange and inclusive storytelling.
A notable voice in this session was Chairperson of Public Service Media (PSM), Aminath Namza, who delivered a compelling address emphasising the need for equitable global journalism. Namza advocated for the achievements and successes of small and developing nations to receive the same level of prominence and rigorous news coverage traditionally afforded to major developed countries.
The second panel discussion shifted focus toward practical cooperation, centering on experiences and strategies regarding the industrial synergy and solidarity of participating nations.
