Health Protection Agency (HPA) has lifted preventive measures imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19 in all regions across the country except the Greater Male' Region.
A circular signed by Director General of Public Health Maimoona Aboobakuru announced all restrictions in all the islands except those in the Greater Male' Region have been suspended on June 14. Following the lift of restrictions, people are allowed to gather in public spaces and travel between islands without informing the authorities. However, despite the eases, HPA has urged to ensure physical distancing and personal hygiene.
Over 2,000 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the Maldives, including 8 deaths. More than half of the cases reported in the country have made full recoveries.
