National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) has released 21 containment sites from monitoring.
Speaking at the daily press briefing, Spokesperson of NEOC Mohamed Mabrook Azeez revealed 21 of the 41 establishments identified as sites with higher risk of spreading COVID-19 have been released from monitoring status. Mabrook said the sites were released from monitoring upon instructions from the Technical Advisory Group (TAG). He added the sites were released since no cases were detected during the allocated 45-day period.
The spokesperson said information of the individuals living in the sites were taken in addition to taking random samples before releasing the sites from monitoring. He noted mostly expatriates live in such sites.
Since the most vulnerable groups prone to COVID-19 include expatriates, the government has exerted major efforts to control the spread of COVID-19 among expatriates and has provided shelter for individuals with no proper accommodation.
