Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) has revealed all the samples obtained from Male' Prison tested negative for COVID-19.
Commissioner of Prisons Ahmed Mohamed Fulhu revealed altogether 101 samples were obtained from Male' Prison when an Emergency Support Group (ESG) officer tested positive for COVID-19. He said samples from 70 staff and officers, 24 inmates and 7 waiters were collected from Male' Prison, adding all samples tested negative for COVID-19.
MCS said it is collaborating with the Health protection Agency (HPA) to obtain samples from prisons in order to identify the level of community transmission of COVID-19. As such, samples were taken from inmates and prison officers across 4 prisons in the country. All the samples obtained so far tested negative for COVID-19.
