Treatment begins for all but one of the patients transferred to India

Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) has revealed treatment has commenced for all but one of the patients transferred to India for advanced medical treatment.

Speaking at a press conference, Spokesperson of HEOC Dr. Nazla Rafeeq said treatment has commenced for all but one of the 28 patients who were transferred to India for treatment on June 29. The spokesperson said treatment of one patient has been delayed as some time is needed before beginning the surgery of the patient. She also revealed another 90 individuals have requested to be transferred abroad for afvanced treatment, adding they will be contacted for further information by Aasandha Company Limited that is in charge of administering and managing the national health insurance scheme.

Due to the restrictions imposed in relation to COVID-19, all patients and their aides must undergo a quarantine period of 14 days upon entering India. They have been permitted to undergo quarantine in an accommodation block of the hospital, as per the arrangements made by the government of India. However, treatment will continue during the quarantine period.
