Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) has urged the public to be extra cautious and take necessary precautionary measures, warning of the risk of a resurgence in COVID-19 cases.
Speaking at a press conference held at the HEOC, Spokesperson Dr. Nazla Rafeeq said the increase in positive cases unrelated to clusters is worrisome and challenging in the fight to contain COVID-19 although the situation does not require imposing another lockdown. Dr. Nazla Rafeeq said the public seems to have forgotten about the risk of COVID-19 with the ease in restrictions, noting the actions and the lifestyle of the public have returned back to normal while the government and relevant authorities are tirelessly working to implement new normal conditions. She further said the increase in the movements of individuals from offices, cafes and restaurants, and not heeding to social distancing methods have widened the scope of positive cases.
The spokesperson further advised the public to utilise the TraceEkee application at all times to assist the efforts of contact tracing. Dr. Nazla advised to carefully take note of the warnings and restrictions once an individual is put under monitoring, isolation or if a person is showing symptoms. She added it is wrong and unadvised to go outside during the mandatory 14-day isolation period despite testing negative while placed under monitoring.
