Aasandha Company Limited has transferred another batch of critically-ill patients requiring advanced medical treatment to India.
The state-owned company administering and managing the national health insurance scheme said this is the fifth batch of patients to travel to India amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Aasandha said 18 patients and their caretakers accompanied by a 4-member team of medical assistants left for India on August 20. All patients will be treated at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre (AIMS).
Individuals who had been transferred earlier and have completed treatment returned on the same flight. This includes 19 patients, 18 caretakers and 2 staff of Aasandha.
The Maldivian government has been transferring critically ill patients to India for advanced medical treatment under special arrangements made with the government of India amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
