Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) has revealed the number of COVID-19 patients admitted in facilities has increased to 171.
Speaking at a press conference held, Spokesperson of HEOC, Dr. Nazla Rafeeq said out of the 171 patients who are hospitalised, 12 patients are in Dharuvamavantha Hospital and 159 patients in Hulhumale’ Medical Facility. Dr. Nazla further said 10 patients are under treatment in ICU while 5 patients are on ventilators. She noted from the facilities in outer atolls, only one patient is hospitalised in Eydhafushi Medical Facility in Baa atoll.
While the number of COVID-19 cases are on the rise, healthcare professionals and the government have expressed concerns over the increase in patients requiring hospitalisation. Health Protection Agency (HPA) has urged the public to follow the guidelines and safety precautions in place in attempts to contain the virus.
