State Trading Organisation (STO) has commenced the setup of a COVID-19 triage facility at Thaajuddeen School in Male’ City.
STO revealed the company began setting up a 19-bed triage facility at Thaajuddeen School hall on August 27. This will be the first triage facility set up to treat COVID-19 patients in the Maldives.
Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) had earlier revealed efforts are underway to establish two triage facilities in Male’ City for COVID-19 patients who cannot be transferred to isolation facilities immediately. HEOC stated the facilities will provide consultation, treatment and admission of COVID-19 patients.
Over 7,300 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives, including over 2,600 active cases. 180 COVID-19 patients are currently hospitalised across different facilities. HEOC revealed over 62% of hospital beds allocated for COVID-19 is currently occupied.
