Maldivian to resume scheduled flights to Trivandrum

The national airline, Maldivian, has announced its decision to resume scheduled flights to Trivandrum, India on September 10.

This is the first international destination to which the national airline has decided to resume operations, since all international flight operations were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Maldivian stated the scheduled flights to Trivandrum will be operated on Thursdays and Saturdays. The airline said a two-way ticket to Trivandrum will cost USD 325.

Maldivian has requested all passengers to comply with the special measures in place within the flight and the airports due to COVID-19. The airline has also requested passengers to follow the instructions of relevant authorities in Trivandrum regarding PCR testing and quarantine. The airline also requested passengers to obtain their visas through the Indian High Commission, and to register at the Imuga portal of Maldives Immigration at least 24 hours before departure.

Maldivian had been operating scheduled flights to India, Sri Lanka, Thailand and China before the COVID-19 pandemic. The airline has also operated multiple repatriation flights to different destinations to repatriate foreigners stranded in the Maldives amid the COVID-19 pandemic and to facilitate the return of locals stranded abroad.
