MTCC concludes asphalt works of Eydhafushi road development project

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has completed asphalt works of the road development project in Eydhafushi, Baa atoll.

MTCC said 87% of the road development has been completed, with the conclusion of asphalt works. MTCC said ongoing works include installation of stormwater pump stations and street lights.

As part of the project, MTCC is contracted to construct and develop 3.3 kilometres of road networks in the island. MTCC said 19 roads in Eydhafushi will be tarred and developed to modern standards with a stormwater management system. The agreement also requires the state-owned company to install LED street lights, construction of speed breakers and establish road markings. The project is estimated to cost over USD 123,000.

The road development project in Eydhafushi was previously conducted by Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC). However, once MRDC was abolished, the project had been on halt for a long period of time. The project was handed over to MTCC in 2019.
