Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) has revealed over 250 establishments have been inspected in the fourth round of mass public health inspection launched in the Greater Male’ Region.
The mass inspection was launched by Health Protection Agency (HPA) to monitor the compliance to the health and safety guidelines set to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission. The fourth round of the inspection was launched on September 20.
Revealing the latest statistics of the inspection, Spokesperson of HEOC Dr. Fathimath Nazla Rafeeq said 259 establishments have so far been inspected in the latest round, including 207 shops, 43 cafes, 6 salons and 3 markets. Dr. Nazla revealed apart from 4 cafes and 1 shop, all other establishments had complied with the HPA guidelines. She said among the establishments which violated the guidelines, 1 cafe and 1 shop has been permitted to reopen after the violations were corrected.
The spokesperson said the fourth round of the inspection will be carried out for a period of two weeks. She said establishments which are found to have violated HPA guidelines will be closed for 48 hours the first time, after which it will be permitted to reopen after the violations are rectified. She said a second violation will lead to a fine of USD 65 and closure for 3 days, while a third violation will lead to another USD 65 fine along with closure for 5 days.
HPA began conducting mass public health inspections in the Greater Male’ Region in July. The inspection is carried out in collaboration with Maldives Police Service (MPS).
