Vice President discusses latest developments in COVID-19 containment measures

Vice President Faisal Naseem has held a Health Emergency Coordination Committee (HECC) meeting to discuss the latest developments on the measures imposed in the Maldives to contain the spread of COVID-19.

The discussions held during the meeting centred on the latest developments in the operations to contain COVID-19, focusing on the collective challenges faced by authorities. Stakeholders at the meeting raised concerns regarding the proper inspection of business establishments, acquiring necessary resources and compliance with the guidelines issued by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) during the reopening of the Maldives' borders for tourism.

Speaking at the meeting, the vice president directed the authorities towards steps to alleviate the raised concerns. Stressing that the president accords high precedence to improving the quality of education and human resource development in the country, the vice president stated that the COVID-19 situation has been a crucial lesson in the value of better human resource management.
