Number of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives surpasses 11,000

The number of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives has surpassed 11,000.

As per the statistics of Health Protection Agency (HPA), 69 new cases were reported between 1800hrs of October 13 and 1800hrs of October 14, including 29 locals and 40 expatriates. HPA said out of the 69 new cases, 63 cases were detected from Greater Male' Region and 6 were from the atolls and resorts. The latest cases reported in the Maldives has taken the total number of cases to 11,062 including 1,147 active cases, 9,880 recoveries and 35 deaths.

As of October 14, there are active cases in 19 islands and 19 resorts apart from the Greater Male’ Region. 61 individuals are currently hospitalised for COVID-19 treatment, including 52 in the Hulhumale’ Medical Facility.
