Health Protection Agency (HPA) reveals another 27 individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 from Kandima Maldives Resort.
HPA began testing tourists and staff at Kandima Maldives after a 60-year-old employee of the resort who had passed away on October 30, subsequently tested positive for COVID-19. HPA revealed a total of 176 samples have been tested from the resort, with 46 positive results, including 27 cases which were confirmed on November 3. HPA stated the results of another 4 samples are yet to be confirmed.
A special team from Dhaalu Atoll Hospital is currently active at Kandima Maldives to obtain samples for testing, conduct contact tracing and provide medical assistance. The resort has been placed under HPA monitoring
Kandima has presented the largest number of COVID-19 cases from a single resort in the Maldives. As per the statistics of HPA, there are active cases in 31 resorts across the country. The active cases in resorts include 43 tourists and 97 staff.
