Maldives Immigration has revealed tourist arrivals in the Maldives increased 126% last month.
According to statistics of Maldives Immigration, over 40,000 tourists have arrived in the Maldives since borders were reopened on July 15, with over 50% of the arrivals recorded in October. As such, 21,515 tourists arrived in the Maldives in October, recording a 126% increase compared to September.
Russia has contributed the largest number of tourists to the Maldives since borders were reopened. In this regard, 5,995 tourists have arrived from Russia since July 15. Meanwhile, 1,780 tourists have arrived from the UK, 1,449 tourists have arrived from the USA, 1,396 tourists have arrived from the India and 1,093 tourists have arrived from France during this period.
Tourist arrivals have increased steadily in October, with the resumption of flights from several international carriers. The daily average of tourist arrivals in October has increased to over 600 per day, compared to 318 in September, 246 in August and 117 in July.
