President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated Islamic creed is what binds Maldivians together as one nation.

Extending heartfelt wishes on the anniversary of the day the Maldives embraced Islam, the President emphasised that religious unity is the key to upholding independence and protecting sovereignty of the Maldives. The president added the Islamic religion is the foundation of the independence of Maldives, and prayed that Islamic faith is maintained in the island nation.

The second day of the Islamic month of Rabi al-Akhir is marked as the day Maldives embraced Islam.
