Health Protection Agency (HPA) reveals 94 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in the Maldives on November 21.
As per the latest statistics of HPA, 49 cases were reported from the Greater Male’ Region on November 21, while another 45 cases were reported from the atolls on the same day. The new cases reported on November 21 includes 38 locals and 56 expatriates.
With the latest update of cases, the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the Maldives has now risen to 12,546. This includes 1,004 active cases, 11,497 recoveries and 45 deaths. A total of 80 COVID-19 patients are currently hospitalized for treatment.
Apart from the Greater Male’ Region, there are active cases in 13 inhabited islands and 27 resorts. Cases reported from resorts include 42 tourists and 158 staff.
The daily COVID-19 numbers had been generally low for the past month, before cases started to increase once again last week. As such, the daily number of cases hit 110 on November 16, which was the first time cases crossed 100 in nearly two months.
