Kazakhstan’s national airline, Air Astana has decided to upgrade its flights to the Maldives due to increased demand.
Air Astana had earlier announced it would be commencing scheduled flights to the Maldives on December 5. The airline announced it will be operating two weekly flights to the Maldives.
At the beginning of its operations to the Maldives, Air Astana will be operating an Airbus A321LR, with 16 business class seats and 150 economy class seats. However, due to the increased demand for the Maldives among tourists during the winter season, the airline has decided to operate a Boeing-767 flight to the Maldives, three times a week, starting from December 21.
Maldives reopened its borders on July 15, more than three months after borders were closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Several international airlines have resumed operations to the Maldives since the country reopened its borders, while several additional airlines have announced it will commence operations in the coming weeks.
Ministry of Tourism stated 16 airlines are currently operating international flights to the Maldives, including 14 international carriers and 2 local carriers.
