VMC partners with Ooredoo for World Travel Awards 2026

Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) has partnered with Ooredoo Maldives as the official Digital Partner for the World Travel Awards Asia, Oceania & Indian Ocean 2026, as preparations get under way for the prestigious tourism event in the Maldives.

The partnership agreement was signed by VMC Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree and Ooredoo Maldives Chief Business Officer Rajesh Mehta.

Under the agreement, Ooredoo Maldives will provide digital infrastructure and connectivity support for the event, drawing on its experience in telecommunications and business technology services.

Ooredoo Business provides ICT solutions, managed services, hosted solutions and data centre services to businesses across the Maldives, including companies operating in the tourism and hospitality sector.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr Shiuree said hosting an international event of this scale would require close cooperation with partners and reliable technical support.

“We are pleased to partner with Ooredoo Maldives and look forward to working together to ensure a memorable experience for delegates, industry partners and media attending the World Travel Awards Asia, Oceania & Indian Ocean 2026,” he said.

Mehta said Ooredoo was proud to support the event and the Maldives’ tourism industry through connectivity and technology.

“As the Maldives continues to set the benchmark for global tourism, Ooredoo Maldives remains committed to empowering the industry through world-class connectivity and innovative technology solutions,” he said.

The World Travel Awards recognises achievements across the international travel and tourism industry and brings together destinations, tourism organisations and hospitality businesses.

Hosting the Asia, Oceania & Indian Ocean 2026 ceremony in the Maldives is expected to provide an opportunity for the country to showcase its tourism sector to international industry stakeholders, strengthen professional networks and promote the destination as a leading global tourism market.

VMC said the partnership forms part of its wider efforts to host major international tourism events and increase the Maldives’ visibility among global audiences.
