Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) has revealed over 90 offices have been inspected under the fifth round of the mass public health inspection launched in the Greater Male’ Region.
Speaking at a press conference, Spokesperson of HEOC Dr. Fathimath Nazla Rafeeq said the fifth round of the inspection focuses on government and private offices, schools, colleges and universities as well as transport service providers. Dr. Nazla revealed 94 offices have been inspected so far, including 70 government offices and 24 offices belonging to private companies or companies partly owned by the government. She added 10 banks and 5 media stations were also inspected.
Providing further details of the inspection, the spokesperson noted all buses, ferries as well as bus stands and ferry terminals in the Male’ Region have been inspected. She added a further 135 public hire vehicles and 16 boats were inspected.
Dr. Nazla noted the main issues observed during the inspection include the lack of awareness messages promoting personal hygiene and safety, and the lack of compliance to social distancing guidelines. She said all offices and facilities with such violations have been instructed to rectify the issues.
Dr. Nazla further stated the inspection also involves ensuring individuals who have been ordered to quarantine at home are following the orders. In this regard, she noted 156 individuals under home quarantine have been randomly contacted to ensure they are staying home.
The mass public health inspection is carried out by Health Protection Agency (HPA), in collaboration with Maldives Police Service (MPS), Male’ City Council and Housing Development Corporation (HDC). HPA began inspection of offices after concluding the inspection of cafes, restaurants, shops, salons and other similar establishments.
The mass public health inspection in the Greater Male’ Region began in July.
