Ministry of Tourism has stated a special guideline will be introduced for the operation of guesthouses in the Greater Male’ Region.
Speaking to PSM News, Senior Policy Director at Ministry of Tourism Ibrahim Farhad said the ministry is working with Health Protection Agency (HPA) on formulating the operational guidelines for guesthouses in the Male’ Region. He said the guideline will be published in time for the reopening of guesthouses in the capital on December 14.
The director further noted there may be some restrictions in the guideline when operations resume this week. However, he said the ministry will amend the guideline in accordance to the developing COVID-19 situation and the required safety measures.
The government had permitted the resumption of guesthouse operations in the atolls on October 15, 212 days after guesthouses were forced to close due to the spread of COVID-19 around the world. However, guesthouses in the Male’ Region remained closed due to the COVID-19 situation in the capital.
