Ministry of Tourism has stated over 139,000 tourists have visited the Maldives since borders were reopened on July 15.
As per the latest statistics, as of December 22, the total arrivals recorded since reopening borders is at 139,183. The statistics further revealed 522,030 tourists arrived in the Maldives between January 1 and December 22 this year.
According to statistics of the tourism ministry, the highest number of arrivals since reopening borders was recorded from Russia, with 26,484 arrivals. Meanwhile, 23,092 arrivals were recorded from India and 16,492 arrivals were recorded from the UK.
The statistics show that an average of 2,039 tourists are arriving per day during December, compared to an average of about 100 per day in previous months.
