The national airline, Maldivian, has revealed online ticket sales have increased significantly since the introduction of a discount promotion for customers purchasing their tickets online.
Maldivian introduced the discount promotion for online ticket sales last month. The promotion offers a 10% discount for customers purchasing domestic air tickets through the Maldivian website or mobile application. Customers purchasing their tickets under the promotion are required to purchase their tickets at least 10 days before the date of the flight.
Speaking on the promotion, PR and Communications Manager of Maldivian Moosa Waseem said with the introduction of the promotion, online ticket sales increased 87% in December compared to November. He also noted the promotion has enabled Maldivian to increase the frequency of its domestic operations to several different destinations.
Domestic flight operations in the Maldives have increased in recent months, as the number of Maldivians travelling abroad have decreased due to COVID-19. Maldivian stated its domestic operations are currently in high demand.
