Health Protection Agency (HPA) has requested all individuals who have travelled from Kolhufushi, Meemu Atoll since January 5 to notify the agency.
HPA has asked to share the travel information of such individuals with the island hospital or the health centre and people who travelled from Kolhufushi to Male’ area to call HPA’s hotline 1676 to notify. HPA has also asked individuals who have travelled from Kolhufushi to another island within the past 14 days to quarantine themselves immediately for 14 days. The agency has asked such individuals to remain in quarantine until exit test results are confirmed negative.
On January 24, Kolhufushi was placed under monitoring after a person who travelled to Male’ from Kolhufushi tested positive for COVID-19. The person tested for COVID-19 upon developing symptoms of the virus two days after travelling to Male’. 9 out of over 100 random samples collected from the island to monitor the community spread situation came out positive.
Meanwhile, Thoddoo, Alifu Alifu Atoll has been placed under monitoring, under after a person who travelled to Male’ from the island tested positive for COVID-19. HPA said contact tracing is currently ongoing.
Currently, there are 4 islands under monitoring including Dhevvadhoo and Dhaandhoo in Gaafu Alifu Atoll.
