100 housing units in Naifaru to be completed by October

Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has stated the construction of 100 new housing units in Naifaru, Lhaviyani Atoll will be completed by October this year.

The project to construct 100 housing units in Naifaru was contracted to Rasheed Carpentry and Construction (RCC) Private Limited. The contract for the project was signed on January 26, 2020.

The project includes construction of 3 housing blocks constructed to three stories, and 1 housing block constructed to four stories. The 3-storey blocks have 24 apartments, while the 4-storey block has 28 apartments. Each apartment has 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a sitting room and storage area. Each apartment has a total area of 1,000 square feet.

The housing ministry said 40% of the project has been completed. The ministry said the concrete works of the four-storey block and two of the three-storey blocks have been completed, while masonry works have been completed for two blocks. The ministry said the project is expected to be completed by October.

The housing project in Naifaru is carried out in the reclaimed area of the island. The project costs approximately USD 4.7 million.
