Maldives records 55th COVID-19 death

Maldives has reported the 55th COVID-19 related death.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed a 60-year-old Maldivian woman admitted in DH-11 facility in Dharumavantha Hospital passed away at 11:07 hours. This is the seventh individual who passed away from COVID-19 in the Maldives this year. So far, 47 Maldivians and 8 expatriates have passed away from COVID-19 in the Maldives.

The situation of COVID-19 has begun to worsen in the Maldives, with the number of patients hospitalised after contracting Covid-19 increasing at an alarming rate. According to statistics, over 200 patients are undergoing treatment in various facilities.

Meanwhile, A Maldivian man has also passed away in Dubai while under treatment for COVID-19. Abdulla Iyad Ahmed, aged 38, passed away after spending over two weeks in a coma.
