Over 50,000 people vaccinated against COVID-19 in the Maldives

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed over 50,000 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the Maldives.

As per the latest statistics of HPA, 6,230 people were vaccinated in the Maldives on February 16. This includes 4,020 people in the Male’ area and 2,090 people in the atolls. Since the beginning of the vaccination programme on February 1, a total of 50,047 people have been vaccinated including 39,309 people in the Male’ area, 10,519 people in the atolls and 219 people in resorts.

The first round of the vaccination in the Maldives will see the rollout of 100,000 doses of Covishield vaccine, granted to the Maldives by India. Two shots of the vaccine are required to complete the dosage, with 4-12 weeks required between the two shots.

Vaccination is currently carried out in 8 centres in the Male’ area and 66 centres in the atolls.
