The Government of Japan has extended a grant of USD 130,000 to the Maldives Institute of Technology (MIT).

The grant was extended to MIT under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP). The grant agreement was signed by the Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives Keiko Yanai and Programme Director at MIT Adam Haleem.

The aim of the grant is to help MIT acquire the resources required to conduct its programmes. As such, MIT plans to acquire 87 training equipment through the grant assistance, for the programmes conducted across the fields of construction technology, land surveying, mechanical and civil engineering.
