Saudi Arabia donates dates to the Maldives for Ramadan

Saudi Arabia has donated dates to the Maldives for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.

The Gulf Kingdom annually donates dates to the Maldives before each month of Ramadan. Saudi Arabia donated 25 tonnes of dates this year at a special ceremony at the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in the Maldives. The donation was accepted by Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir.

The Islamic ministry has not yet publicised the distribution schedule of the dates. In 2020, Saudi Arabia donated 50 tonnes of dates, which the Islamic ministry distributed as one packet of dates for each household on a first-come-first served basis, while priority was given for poor households.
