New building of Maafannu Police Station inaugurated

The new building of Maafannu Police Station in Male’ City has been officially inaugurated.

The new building, located in Maafannu West Park area, was inaugurated by Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla and Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed during a ceremony held on March 29. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy Commissioners Abdul Mannan Yoosuf and Ali Rasheed, as well as executive and commissioned officers of Maldives Police Service (MPS).

Speaking at the ceremony, Home Minister Imran said the police institution of every community carries the important responsibilities of enforcing law and order, and maintaining peace and stability. Noting MPS has been fulfilling this responsibility in the Maldives for the past 88 years, the minister expressed confidence that the efforts to develop and reinforce the institution will result in an even stronger service to the public. He added the newly enacted Police Service Act is a light that shines into the way forward for MPS.

Maafannu Police Station was previously located at Fanhiya Building. The station was relocated to provide a better working space for officers working at the station.
