Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has held a virtual interaction with the Permanent Representatives of the Group of Latin American and Caribbean Countries (GRULAC) at the United Nations.
Permanent Representatives and representatives from a number of GRULAC countries took part in the meeting. During the meeting, the foreign minister discussed key issues of importance to both GRULAC and the Maldives, such as sustainable development, climate change, human rights, and revitalization of the General Assembly. The minster also shared his perspectives on the sustainable recovery pathways from COVID-19.
Minister Shahid highlighted the many shared concerns despite the distance between the countries of GRULAC and the Maldives. He thanked the member states for giving him the opportunity to engage with the Group, and for the partnership with the Maldives at the United Nations. He also highlighted the importance of working together to enhance the multilateral system and international cooperation.
