Maldives and Bangladesh hold discussions on providing military training opportunities

Discussions have been held between the armed forces of the Maldives and Bangladesh on providing training opportunities for Maldivian soldiers.

The discussions were held as part of Chief of Defence Force Major General Abdulla Shamaal’s ongoing official visit to Bangladesh. He discussed avenues for training opportunities in separate meetings held with Chief of Army Staff of the Bangladesh Army General Aziz Ahmed and the Chief of Naval Staff of the Bangladesh Navy Admiral M. Shaheen Iqbal.

During the meetings, Major General Shamaal expressed gratitude for the prompt responses of the Bangladeshi armed forces in the Maldives’ fight against COVID-19. Discussions were also held on maritime security issues relevant to both countries.
