Health Protection Agency (HPA) has implemented special measures in Naifaru, Lhaviyani Atoll and Huraa, Kaafu Atoll to curb the spread of COVID-19.
HPA announced special measures to be implemented in Huraa and Naifaru following a surge of COVID-19 cases in the two islands. The special measures to be taken by the HPA in Naifaru and Huraa for the next seven days include banning locals from going out of their homes unless for a health emergency, banning gathering of groups of three or more, banning locals visiting other households, banning parties or other events, closing of hotels, cafés, restaurants, as well as saloons, gyms, and barber shops.
Other measures include the ban of sporting events and exercise classes. Further, shops and banks are instructed to follow the guidelines established by the HPA. Taxi services have also been instructed to only accept fares for emergencies, and for health and security service personnel with special permits.
The measures are to be enforced by Maldives Police Service and other government authorities.
