MTCC contracted to complete three harbour-related projects

Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure has contracted Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to complete harbour-related projects in three islands.

At a special ceremony held on April 6, MTCC was awarded the contracts to complete harbour-related projects in Manadhoo and Velidhoo in Noonu Atoll and Baarah in Haa Alifu Atoll. The contracts were signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Planning Ministry Zeeniya Ahmed and Chief Operating Officer of MTCC Shahid Hussain Moosa.

The project in Baarah includes dredging a 79,000-square-metre area of the channel 8 metres deep, as well as dredging an 8,600-square-metre area near the jetty 3.5 meters deep. The project was contracted to be completed within 120 days at a cost of USD 776,000.

The project in Manadhoo includes dredging a 13,216-square-metre area of the lagoon 3 meters deep and dredging a 15,822-square-metre area of the channel entrance 4 meters deep. MTCC was also contracted to establish a 290-metre revetment and place 20 mooring buoys. The whole project is to be completed within 300 days at a cost of USD 776,000.

The project in Velidhoo includes establishing a revetment in a 254-square-metre area and reclaiming 17,768 square meters of land. The company is also tasked with leveling the already reclaimed land in the island. The project is to be completed within 280 days at a cost of USD 1.2 million.
