Parliament passes resolution to open a recreational centre for youth in Male’

Parliament of the Maldives has passed the resolution to call the government to establish a recreational centre for youth in Male’.

The resolution to open a youth recreational centre was put forward by Parliamentarian Hassan Latheef. The resolution calls upon the government to establish a centre in Male’ for recreational activities such as music. As such, the resolution states the centre must have facilities such as a music recording studio and band practice room in order to promote the development of such skills.

The resolution was passed during the parliament sitting on April 29, with votes from 46 parliamentarians. The resolution was opposed by 5 parliamentarians.

The resolution highlighted the importance of establishing such a centre for the youth, noting the responsibility of facilitating opportunities for the development of youth skills lies on the government. Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage Yumna Maumoon had also expressed support for the resolution.
